Birds of the Mukki Zone: A Photographer's Paradise

While the big cats get most of the glory, the birdlife in the Mukki zone of Kanha is truly spectacular. With over 300 species recorded, it is a haven for ornithologists and amateur birders alike.

The Iconic Malabar Pied Hornbill

Often seen gliding between the tall sal trees, the Hornbill is a sight to behold. Its large beak and distinctive silhouette make it a favorite for photographers. Look for them near fruiting trees around the Banjaar river.

Raptors of the Meadows

The open meadows of Mukki are perfect hunting grounds for the Crested Serpent Eagle and the Changeable Hawk-Eagle. Keep your eyes on the high leafless branches of the trees bordering the meadows.
